For ten years, the University of Zurich worked meticulously to advance the renovation of the historic building at Rämistrasse 74/76.
In line with the plans of the Spanish‑Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava, the requirement was to create an operable glare-control solution that maintained outward transparency.
The historic building was enclosed with continuous, inclined glazing arranged in a trapezoidal form—a challenge that LEHA and Sunreflex tackled together.
After extensive deliberation, the two companies opted for the Hortus 450WG shading system with manual crank operation—tailor‑made for the University of Zurich’s highly specific installation conditions and requirements. In total, 49 shading units were required to equip the building’s glazing with effective glare protection.
